There’s a reason the guy who karaoked along to a Coldplay song last Saturday at famed Las Vegas dive bar Dino’s Lounge sounded so good.

It’s because it was Chris Martin. Coldplay’s singer, fresh from a solo set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena, showed up dressed as a dork in a wig, thick black glasses, and a suit and proceeded to give the packed but still-tiny crowd a night it wouldn’t soon forget. (OK, so the dorky suit wasn’t what threw anyone off about his disguise.)

Martin, introduced only as “Chris,” sang “All My Love,” a beautiful ballad off Coldplay’s new “Moon Music” album, which drops on October 4. A film crew hired by Live Nation, producer of the iHeart Music Festival, captured the audience as it slowly realized what was happening.

Supposedly, only the owner, Martin, his bodyguard, and the film crew knew what was happening. Not even the bar’s staff was in on the joke.

The red balloon Martin held was purchased from a guy selling them in the parking lot. In the middle of the performance, a woman whom Martin identifies as “Trish” perhaps someone he met in character earlier in the evening? approaches Martin to hug him, and he gives her the balloon.

Thank you so much, everybody,” Martin thanked the cheering crowd. “Thanks for letting me do that. Beatles forever.”
